Melancholy
Oil on Paper
11x17

This painting was done in a total of 4 hours. It started from a charcoal drawing from life, which I then enlarged on the copy machine and painted on top of the drawing. This painting was a lot of fun! Happy Halloween!

Duke
scratchboard, pen and ink, gouache
I am starting to create a series of images towards a book about the special bond between humans and our beloved canine companions. I have always been intrigued with why this special relationship occurs with canines, but not necessarily any other animal.

Yes, it may seem simple. You may be thinking to yourself, oh no...  not another book with pictures of dogs and their owners! Instead, this book will explore something more. I will be taking you into a journey into exploring and searching for the values that humans yearn for in a perfect friendship,  through the celebration of the dog-human relationship.

The book will be complete in seven weeks, printed and bound!

Woman Study
Pen and Ink

“I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay.”
― Madonna

This illustration was done from observation within a period of 3 hours. I can't thank the model enough! She posed in costume, standing, for the whole time with few breaks in between...

B.B King
Pen and Ink

If anyone has soul... that would be B.B King.
This is another freehand drawing done with pen and Ivory Black gouache. This is an illustration of the King of Blues and his Lucille. This drawing was completed in a total of 4 hours.

"Maybe you don't know what I mean when I say paying my dues. I mean when things are bad with me I can always, I can always you know, like, depend on Lucille"

 BB King

Everyone has their own Lucille in their life, what is yours?

A Rubbish Man
9x12 inches
This is another observational drawing I created with ink, once again. I composed a figure out some excess objects laying around the studio, grabbed a pen, and started to draw.
When I finished this drawing, it reminded me of a quote from John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath (one of my favorite books), so I completed my drawing with the little addition of text.

"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole"
- Roger Caras

This is an illustration done freehand of my dog Woody. I used only a 0.25 Hi-Tec-C Pen from start to finish.
